Sexual Assault Survivors

"Every 73 seconds an American is sexually assaulted" This is roughly 1,100 people per day in the U.S. Sexual assault and sexual violence can take many forms. One important thing to always remember is,

it is NEVER the victims fault!

"One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives." In the U.S. alone, "one in three women and one in six men will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime." Sexual assault/violence is many times committed by someone the victim knows. "In 8 out of 10 rape cases the victim knew the perpetrator."

Sexual assault can leave a lasting impact on a victim. According to RAINN, some effects a victim might experience include: posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, substance use, self-harm, sleep disorders, eating disorders, disassociation, and suicidal ideation.

While these effects can cause distress to a victim, it is never too late to seek help! FACT is committed to helping those who have been affected by sexual assault/violence through our no cost therapeutic service.
